TV or Cable Commercials of from 10- to 60-second duration. To produce a TV commercial on the major networks in the Detroit metro area--Channel 4, Fox, etc.--look for a minimum commitment of $10,000. WDIV, for instance, makes that specific request before they can begin to work with you. Without question, however, they do a superb job.
Cable does a beautiful job as well. They require a minimum $1,200 to shoot your 30-second commercial, that beginning price limiting you to a single location shoot, and generally to about two hours of their time.
Regardless of who produces the commercial, the cost of air time, of course, is a separate expense, with the usual tremendous variety of time slots and prices, depending on how much of the market, and which specific demographics you hope to reach.
We can shoot and produce that same commercial for likely 1/3-1/2 the cost of production, using the same professional broadcast-quality camera (our Canon XL1S), lighting, and much of the same sound equipment that they do. If you need real fancy graphics, and a lot of sophisticated editing bells and whistles, youll have to go to them. We dont do Fords commercials; they do. And they do it better. And Ford needs a great variety of innovative fresh commercials, because weve all seen their cars and ads a thousand times already. Thats why they need a giant like the J. Walter Thompson ad agency to design them for them too.
However, youve got 30 seconds to tell the world what you have to offer. If youre not Ford, or a company like Ford, and you havent put out 100 different commercials this year yet, maybe you just need to show people what you can do for them. If youre looking to showcase your products or services, perhaps even with multiple location shoots, maybe we can help.
As you can see on our price list, we can do a one-location shoot, generally right at your place of business, for about $400. It may take 2-3 hours, of course--thats pretty normalbut the quality and innovation will be exactly the same as if you had had it done through a network or cable production crew. And well convert it to a file that can be used by either of them.
The expense for air time, of course, is completely separate, and is available in a great variety of exposure and expense packages through either a network or cable service. We have nothing to do with that, but would be happy to tell you whom to contact at any one of them. Theyre good people to work with too, and are certainly enthusiastic about helping you with your business as well.
