So What Will It Cost? So What Will It Cost?
Firemen tell us that, if our house is on fire, we shouldn’t try to save our tv or our lucky bowling shoes. Those things are replaceable! The one thing they do encourage us to get out of the house, or, better, to always keep in a safe place, however, are our photo albums. Those things are treasures that are simply not replaceable, unless maybe under hypnosis, …but even then they’d really only be available to us - not really great for enjoying with our loved ones.

Photo albums tell the stories of our years together with those whom we love. They take us back to many of the most enjoyable and memorable moments of our lives. The birthdays, the holiday feasts, years and years of vacations, whether traipsing through the Grand Canyon or barbecuing in the backyard on the 4th of July! And they capture and bring back to us so many of the people who have meant so much to us on the various paths of our journey.

Photo albums are wonderful to sit back and page through. When we share them with others, of course, we often have to pause and offer our verbal captions, as our guests attempt to empathize with our myriad sighs and oohs and aahs.

We can help you make this already enjoyable experience quite a bit more convenient, and even a whole lot more remarkable, for yourself, and certainly for your family and friends.

We can take these photos, in any order that you specify, or sorted into various chapters, if you like, and put them onto a Video CD or a DVD so you can just pop them into your DVD player, or computer CD-ROM, and enjoy them in living color on your tv or computer screen, with music backgrounds, maybe with your own commentary, maybe even with some special sound effects that can help to bring out more of the emotions of the moments.

If you haven’t tried this, please find someone who has and sit down with them for a moment and watch one of their home video photo albums – don’t worry, you won’t need to put on a pot o’ coffee first. Just a coupla minutes will show you what we mean. It is a thoroughly enjoyable experience, even if you don’t know who the heck it is you’re looking at on that tv. Now imagine if, instead, there were people on that tv that you knew; or, heaven forbid, if you yourself were up there. My stars, wouldn’t that be the cat’s pajamas??

If you have a minute, take a look at our sample above. We put this one together last Christmas at our annual family gathering at my brother’s house. It makes us look like we had even more fun than we actually did! --and we had a pretty doggone good time! I’ve offered here only about a minute of a total of about 12 minutes of video taken from two different Christmas parties – the in-laws, … and the out-laws, don’t ya know. Every family present received a copy, and some of them have told us that they played them over and over just for the sheer enjoyment of reliving a terrific day and a heartwarming whole-big-family time together. Now that’s a memory worth keeping.

What Do You Need to Do?

1. Loan us your photos. Normally, 15 photos are shown per minute @ 4-5 seconds each. A show of 100 photos will take just over 7 minutes.
2. If you’d like to use captions, and many people prefer not to, just write out whatever words or captions or chapter headings or anything else you’d like us to incorporate into the video album, and tell us where you’d like them to appear. Some people prefer to have us record their own voice commenting on many of the photos, or else introducing an entire chapter of photos for a single event.
3. Pick out any music that you particularly like, …or else you can select from the pretty good variety that we have, …or just allow us to use our best judgment on music.
4. Pick out a title for your album, and maybe one or two of your photos that you’d like to use for the album label.
5. Tell us how many copies you’d like.
6. Give us about 2-3 weeks to return to you your finished products, and, of course, all of your original photos and/or music.

If You Have Digital Photos:

The whole process can really be streamlined, saving you quite a chunk of change, if you have taken digital photos, that is, with a digital camera, one of those that now use a compact disc or photo stick to save the photos, rather than 35mm film. If you do have such digital photos, then the clearest, least expensive way to loan them to us is to put them on a CD in the order in which you’d like them made into a “movie,” and let us borrow that CD. We’ll give it back. If you’re like us, you may have to turn to your 9-year old grandchild to put them on a CD for you. Seems like that generation measures its brain power in RAM and hard-drive space now, so this kind of stuff is sort of innate for them. Go figure.

If You Have 35mm Photo Prints

If you have 35mm prints, or any-mm prints, for that matter, that’s okay; we can work with them just fine, in any size too, but it does take a little longer, and therefore we’re forced to charge you a little bit more.
